When analyzing a healthy diet for your pomsky, it is crucial to think about how often you should feed them, what times are most beneficial, and what foods you should avoid in your pomskies nutrition.

How often should you feed your Pomsky?

2-6 month old puppies- Each pomsky puppies should be fed 3 meals daily during this period. You may need to include snacks as well in between meals.
6+ month old dogs- Your pomsky should be fed 2 meals daily during this stage of their life. Giving them snacks between meals is recommended as well. You can plan on giving them snacks between their meals during this time as well.

How much should I feed my Pomsky?

Although the response to this question depends on the type of dog food, whether it's wet or dry, the activity level or your Pomsky, and so-on, we have a few guidelines you can follow to start with, and then you may change it based on the needs of your dog and ingredients of your dog food.

  • 2 to 4 lbs - Feed 1/3 to 1/2 cups per day
  • 5 to 8 lbs - Feed 1/2 to 3/4 cups per day
  • 8 to 10 lbs - Feed 1/2 to 3/4 cups per day
  • 10 to 12 lbs - Feed 3/4 to 1 cup per day
  • 13 to 17 lbs - 1 to 1 1/4 cups per day
You may also find recommended portions on certain brand dog foods so I would read the labels and keep their recommended portions in mind as well.

Should I feed my Pomsky Wet or Dry Dog Food?

The response to this question might change for specific dogs, so here are some things to keep in mind. Dry dog food can help keep your dog's teeth strong and healthy, but your Pomsky could better receive wet dog food. It just depends on the particular dog. If your Pomskies diet consists mostly of wet food, they could be at risk of having loose or runny bowels, so we suggest attempting to use dry dog food at first. If your Pomsky isn't very open to the dry dog food, you can always try adding a little bit of water to soften the food or mix in a small bit of soft dog food with their dry food.

Foods that are unhealthy or poisonous for Pomskies

Certain ingredients may be very healthy for humans but are toxic or harmful for dogs, so it's imperative to be mindful of this list and make sure your Pomsky avoids these ingredients at all costs.
  • Grapes and raisins - These can be poisonous to dogs even in small doses.
  • Fruit seeds and pits - While dogs may enjoy certain fruits, if they were to eat individual seeds or pits, it could cause some medical issues that could potentially be fatal.
  • Chocolate - All chocolate is toxic to dogs.
  • Salt - Although small doses are okay, a large quantity could cause kidney issues.
  • Coffee, tea, soda - These drinks can give your dog seizures and comas and can be life-threatening.
  • Onions - Onions can be harmful to your dog's red blood cells which is one reason why it's not good to feed your dog table scraps.
  • Fish- one of the most harmful things you could feed your dog is fish. It may not seem like a big deal, but fish can cause a variety of dangerous things to your dog, especially if they are infected with a particular parasite. Lots of dog owners do not end up catching the parasite in time, and that is why some dogs die after eating fish.

Hi. I have a Wolfdog (6 years old) and a little 3 month old Pomsky. My Wolfdog has to have fish in her diet as her father is an Arctic Wolf/Alaskan Malamute mix and her mother is a Timberwolf/Siberian Husky mix. Fish and fish oil are the best thing for her coat and digestive processes. Canned sardines in water are the best for her so far, mixed into her high protein dog food.

My question is in regards to NO FISH for the Pomsky is, are you referring to raw, self-caught fish or to fish purchased from the grocery? Thank you.
