Often times our customers will travel in a vehicle to us here in Utah to pickup their new Pomsky Puppy. I wanted to write an article to make traveling home with your new Pomsky Puppy much easier for you and your new fur-baby. We will send a leash and collar with your new puppy when they leave our home. I highly recommend you bring a friend to hold the puppy during the drive. Plan on making stops along the way.

Supplies I recommend while traveling home safely with your new Pomsky puppy
  • Kennel
  • Carrier
  • Potty Pads
  • Harness
  • Harness Seatbelt
  • Seatbelt
  • Food and water bowls
  • Water
  • Pomsky Puppy Food
  • Potty Bags

I put puppies in a seatbelt harness. I have also used the Car Seat and I like them both.

I don't like to put a new Pomsky puppy in a
kennel during the drive because I don't want it to become afraid of the kennel or the car. I do bring a kennel to put in the back of the car for when you have to stop and you can't bring your new Pomsky in the store, you can put the Pomsky puppy in the kennel.  I like this kennel because it has the divider you can adjust as your Pomsky puppy grows. If you can bring the puppy inside the store this carrier is awesome. It has lots of pockets and you can use it as a carry on if you ever fly in cabin with your Pomsky puppy.
Some Pomskies get car sick. We use Children's Dramamine for our Posmky Puppies. Ask your vet what is the correct dosage for your Pomsky puppy before giving it.

It's important to remember its not safe to bring your new Pomsky puppy on public ground until it is fully vaccinated (3 sets of vaccines). You don't want your dog getting any sicknesses from other dogs.

Do Pomskies Get Along with Other Pets?

So, you've seen a Pomsky online, and now you're thinking about adding this pet to your family. But, having a variety of pets can be frustrating if they don't get along, so the question comes up. If I get a Pomsky, will it get along with my other pets? You're in luck! A Pomsky is a mixture of two amazing dog breeds, the Siberian Husky and the Pomeranian. Like the husky dog breed, Pomskies are born with excellent leadership abilities making them want to lead or be led with a pack. Pomskies are a great fit for families with other pets. Their fun and energetic temperament works perfectly with all types of animals, especially other dogs.
What to do if you want your Pomsky to get along with your other pets
If your Pomsky is having a tough start and isn't doing well with the other pets in the home, it may have some jealousy issues. Make sure to always take time to spend with your Pomsky, such as taking it on walks, playing games like fetch and tug, and giving it the daily scratch it needs. It's also possible that your Pomsky might be having separation anxiety from missing its previous home. Make sure to try to make your Pomsky feel at home as much as possible, by giving it its own space for its food and bed. A spot that only belongs to them.
Are Pomskies Good Pets?
If you are still uncertain whether to add this designer dog to your family, you are probably wondering if a Pomsky will be a good pet. But, like with other decisions in life, it depends. I feel that different breeds work better with certain personalities. For example, if you like to relax and sit back after a long day at work, then finding a dog that wants the same will work best with your personality and lifestyle. Pomskies temperament is energetic, loving, bold, and intelligent. If you are active and love playing around, this dog is perfect for you. It's also an excellent fit for a family with kids because their energy usually matches well with each other.
Important things to consider
Training is essential
If you are going to be adding this breed to your amazing family, it is essential that it is trained. Especially if you will be around other dogs or pets. Because of their hyper and energetic personalities, Pomskies can get hard to handle without the right training in hand.
They have a lot of energy

Pomskies love to play and be involved in family activities. You may want to consider having a pet that can match that and be an enjoyment for your Pomsky. If not, you will want to match that energy level yourself to help your Pomsky feel fulfilled in its activities and lifestyle.

If you are looking to add an adorable Pomsky puppy into your home, Brookside Pomskies is the place to go. We have an amazing variety of available Pomskies for you to choose from and you also have the option to have your Pomsky trained by us before you add the new addition into your family. Visit our Pomsky puppies for sale or submit an adoption application to get started.

Making A Home Safe for your pomsky puppy

To make your home safe for your new puppy, eliminate potential hazards around the house and pay attention to the following items
  • Keep breakable objects out of reach
  • Deny access to electrical cords by hiding or covering them; Make outlets safe with plastic outlet covers
  • Safely store household chemicals above counter height up 36"
  • Keep the following house and garden plants out of reach: poinsettias, azaleas, rhododendrons, dumb cane, Japanese yew, oleander and English ivy among others.
  • In the garage, be sure engine lubricants and other poisonous chemicals (especially antifreeze) are safely stored.
  • If you own a pool or hot tub, check the cover or the surrounding fence to be sure they’re in good condition
  • If you provide your puppy with an outdoor kennel, place it in an area that provides sun and shelter in the pen; be sure the kennel is large enough to comfortably accommodate your puppy’s adult size
